A New Face for Better Regulation

As the economy moves out of recession, our better regulation agenda will be crucially important. Across Government we recognise that regulation creates costs for business as well as bringing benefits, and that too much regulation, or regulation that is poorly designed, will hold back the growth we need to restore the economy and public finances. So while we will inevitably need to bring in further new regulations to meet new challenges in the coming years, we must do so in a carefully managed way, regulating only where other approaches cannot deliver the outcomes we want to achieve and doing so in a way that keeps things as simple as possible for the people who have to comply.
