“Our officers are freed up to carry out inspections”

Each year, two and a half million containers arrive at the UK’s biggest port, Felixstowe, bringing in food imports from all over the world.

“We do around 70 inspections each day”, says Richard Jacobs, Service Manager at Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority. “And they contain anything you’d expect to find in a supermarket, from fresh apples to frozen fish or specialist foods.”
